I don’t know about you but I’m am sick and tired of the bickering that believers do. It is the classic fight of 1 Cor. 3:4
For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not mere men?
Theological disputes are hurting the body. I know there are valid Theologians who are truly seeking the truth, which I love, but then you have their spokesmen on FB or wherever and they just bite and devour other spokesmen. Do we not heed Gal. 5:15? Or 1 Tim. 6:4-5 which says
4 He is puffed up with pride and stupefied with conceit, [although he is] woefully ignorant. He has a morbid fondness for controversy and disputes and strife about words, which result in (produce) envy and jealousy, quarrels and dissension, abuse and insults and slander, and base suspicions,
5 And protracted wrangling and wearing discussion and perpetual friction among men who are corrupted in mind and bereft of the truth, who imagine that godliness or righteousness is a source of profit [a moneymaking business, a means of livelihood]. From such withdraw.
Or Titus 3:9 which says
But avoid stupid and foolish controversies and genealogies and dissensions and wrangling about the Law, for they are unprofitable and futile.
Why can’t those who call upon the name of Jesus live as Phillippians 2:3 says
Do nothing from factional motives [through contentiousness, strife, selfishness, or for unworthy ends] or prompted by conceit and empty arrogance. Instead, in the true spirit of humility (lowliness of mind) let each regard the others as better than and superior to himself [thinking more highly of one another than you do of yourselves].
Is it because we have become unwise and cannot accept rebuke? Molinism, Arminianism, Calvinism, Thomism, Scotism, Open Theism, Augustinism, Occamism etc. etc. Sometime the isms fight like the ites of the OT. I love the Church and I, like I said above, love Theologians. They spend years on like a sentence in the Bible. But I feel we lose sight of what we are looking for. I heard this from Ian Clayton and I think it can be very true in most cases, “Theology is the study of yesterday’s revelation.” Don’t get wrong, I and we need to study that which was, to walk in that which is, and to be prepared for that which is to come.
It is like the isms have become like denominations. We have the truth and the rest of you don’t. My isms is better than your ism. No wonder the world laughs at the face of the Church. No wonder. They don’t see the love of John 13:35 which says
By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
There is a time and a place for rebuke and to hash out what the Bible is telling us but we this should never produce friendly fire in the Kingdom. Do we really want to be known in heaven for wasting our times with arms against our fellow family? Do we not understand that there are believers and non believers alike that are hurting, restless, broken, lost, bound, etc? We are suppose to be a hospital, not a shooting range. We need to grow up, me especially. There is One Truth and that is Jesus Christ. What did Paul say in 1 Cor. 2:2
For I resolved to know nothing (to be acquainted with nothing, to make a display of the knowledge of nothing, and to be conscious of nothing) among you except Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and Him crucified.
In midst of the bickering I see the Holy Spirit in Proverbs 21:9 as the one living in the corner of a housetop. We, the Bride of Christ, have an awesome destiny but we will not walk in that unless we repent for being a quarrelsome wife.
Mark 3:25 declares
And if a house is divided (split into factions and rebelling) against itself, that house will not be able to last.
As He is...so are we 
I can’t say “great post” enough… I have been personally affected by this issue recently. I attend a small rural church. The church I attend is Baptist, but there are several people that attend that attend only because it is the only non-Lutheran and non-Catholic option for miles and miles. The new pastor recently put his foot down against any idea or theology that isn’t strictly Baptist and caused such a stir over it that some have left the church and others of us don’t attend quite as often, and all of us that aren’t strict Baptist feel awkward. It is divisive.

Having done my best almost throughout my entire life to avoid exactly the type of fighting to which you allude here, I was absolutely dismayed only a mere month or two ago to find out that I had actually been drawn into it without even knowing that I had. My disappointment at myself as a result of this was so profound, that it has become one of the primary reasons that I have cut back on the amount of blogging that I’ve been doing, and retreated once again into the sanctity of private study. In regards to myself, your post is a classical case of preaching to the choir, but I do indeed appreciate your attempt to bring this to the attention of as many others as you can. And your point is completely valid, a house divided against itself will indeed fall. It is my prayer that your post will fall on many welcoming ears, and that having heard and considered this message, they will be moved by the Spirit to act on it. As for myself, due to medical conditions that compound the difficulty of my situation, it is probably better that I continue to keep my studies private. God bless, and I do wish you all the best.

Thank you for this post! This is spot on 🙂 What really grabbed me was the reference to Philippians 2:3, one of my favorite verses! In my bible study with my sister and mom, we call each other out when we might be straying from Scripture; or in our ramblings we might be found adding to what it says in our attempt at explaining ourselves. We welcome the corrections and oftentimes it leads to some really deep discussions which is so beneficial. But it is always done in respect and without arrogance because none of us are experts or anything. We’re all relatively new believers.
