Why Bless Someone’s Spirit?

Have you ever felt like the third wheel? Or maybe you’re the person who just kind of tags along in other people’s lives. You’re just “there” but never feeling a part of what is happening. You’re there but not present. Not included. Not…legitimate. And in that illegitimacy you feel crushed, wounded, rejected. It isn’t that someone spoke bad to or about you, it’s just that no one has spoken to you.

What I love about the Trinity is that God, within Himself, has relationship. Other-centeredness. The Father honors the Son, the Son honors the Father, the Father honors the Spirit, the Spirit points to Jesus, etc. As our relationship with God grows deeper and wider we begin to notice the subtle differences in His voice. Sometime it’s the Father speaking to us. Other times Jesus comes and embraces us with His words. Still other times it’s the Holy Spirit nudging us. All equally important yes distinctively different. So it is with us.

No we are not the Trinity but we are three part beings made in the image and likeness of God and a trinity as well. The Scripture that points to this is 1 Thess 5:23 which says,  “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Notice it doesn’t say “body, soul, and spirit” it says “spirit, soul, and body”.

So why do we bless our spirit? Well it’s the same reason we bless our body and soul. We pray for healing for the body by speak blessings over it. We bless our soul with good thoughts, a will towards God, a healthy mind, etc. Yet I’ve never heard someone bless someone’s spirit. Well that’s not totally true. I’ve heard many people bless the spirit indirectly. We talk about the spirit but never to the spirit. We are almost always speaking to a person’s soul but never address it as such because we don’t address a person and say their name all the time.

Imagine the third wheel experiences you’ve had. Take it further and imagine the other two talk about you but never to you. Now I know it sounds weird…especially since it’s a brand new topic that you’ve probably never heard of before. The person who first brought this concept to my life is Arthur Burk and this teaching. Funny thing is he first thought it was crazy as well. And it wasn’t even his idea to begin with.

It started as he walked with a lady through her suffering with DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder)…suffered and no longer suffering BTW. After over two years of trying different inner healing and deliverance tools and concepts nothing worked until she came up with an idea. She asked Arthur, “Try speaking in the direction of my spirit.” He, thinking it was weird, decided to go along with this strange idea. He spoke to her spirit exactly like it is a part of her. Her reaction, my paraphrase: “I saw I was in a dark and dreary basement like in a dungeon. As you spoke to my spirit I noticed a dirty and damp rag in the furthest corner and underneath something quivering and moving…that was my spirit crushed and wounded.” After several weeks of speaking to her spirit DID was a thing of the past. She fully integrated which, done through the soul, can take 10 years of so. The thing is she was saved and loved Jesus…but her spirit was still broken and until someone came along and spoke to her spirit instead of about her spirit, until someone included her spirit in the conversation then healing came. 1 Cor. 2:11 says, “ For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.” And Prov. 18:14 says, “The spirit of a man can endure his sickness, but as for a broken spirit who can bear it?”

This concept of speaking to a person’s spirit has been used in pregnancy as well…with amazing results. (Read here for more info) You see a spirit is not subject to the organics of a body but the body is dependent upon a spirit being present. That is why when a spirit leaves a body the body will then die. So as the baby is developing in the womb their spirit is alive and well and can be spoken to as the organics are developing and the soul is waiting to be expressed after birth since the soul is dependent upon the organics for expression. So what are the results of blessing a child in the womb? Pre-birth the baby responds to the voice of the person blessing the spirit. There have been babies who are breached and a person who has been blessing their spirit already can tell the baby that they are breached and the baby will move him or her self into the correct position. There are babies, whose spirit has been directly blessed by their father, who immediately after birth will hear their father’s voice and turn their head and smile to their daddy… There have been babies whose spirit were directly blessed with Scriptures of joy. Their dad or mom would find all the Scriptures that talk about joy and bless their baby in the womb. Once born their house is filled with nothing but joy and anyone who comes to the house gets smacked with joy. Our spirit are the center and essence of who we are and we exude that essence.

Our spirit is a seed and it carries a part of God’s DNA for us. And as a seed it must be nourished and cared for and unpacked. Left unattended it may grow but plateau at some point. But why speak to our spirit directly? I repeat it’s because it’s been left out of the conversation for so long. We address the spirit as, “John/Jane I call your spirit forward and to attention in the name of Jesus Christ. Listen to Word of God 1 John 4:17…” purely because it’s been left out. We clearly know our body’s voice. Our body will tell us when it’s hungry, hurting, or thirty. Our soul, the most active of all, will let you know it’s hurting, sad, happy, etc. So will our spirit, if we let it. Speaking to someone’s spirit is intentional. It brings legitimacy which is the most important thing our spirits need. Once you have ministered to a person’s spirit for awhile you don’t even need to address the spirit because the spirit will already be front and center to receive blessing.

He Said She Said

Proverbs 1817

He Said She Said

I am sure we have all gone through this in different relationships. “Tony is very offended at what you said and wants you to know that.” “Stacy wants to know if you can help her with this situation she is in.” We have all heard things like these from 3rd parties. Elijah House calls it Triangulation. It’s where one person speaks through another person to get information passed. And it is usually done for negative reason.

The reason I am blogging about this is because I had a dream last night. In the dream I was talking with an person who told me that another person was offended at what I said of did to them. Then I woke up and immediately thought about that term Triangulation and how I have experienced it in the past and even recently. It can be very damaging and hurtful.

As I lay awake after the dream I was being flooded with thoughts concerning they way Triangulation works within relationship and the harm that can occur by these actions. I believe these thoughts were God’s voice showing me things about Triangulation.

Triangulation – He Said She Said

Triangulation is very harmful. It is damaging and is a breeding ground for suspicion, speculation, bitterness, lack of trust, and dishonesty. I’m sure we all know the game where a bunch of people line up and the first person is told a short story and then they have to tell the next person what they remember and the next person relays the information…that they remember. Then by the time the last person hears the story it is nowhere near the original. This is a perfect example on how it works. It almost always tell only one side of the story as well. It is also been called “the grapevine.”

Triangulation itself is used to locate a GENERAL area but never SPECIFIC area. In cell phone tracking it takes three cell towers and triangulates to create a triangular area where a particular cell phone is located. We could call it a gray area. There is a lot of gray area when triangulating. He said this and she said that. Meanwhile the 3rd party can easily fall into preference over one story. I believe a lot of the times triangulating is used because a person is so offended that they don’t want to reconcile or talk things through but just to vent/gossip/find someone to back them up.

This can be a sketchy situation with the 3rd party individual. If the 3rd party is mature they will take Proverbs 18:17 into consideration. Also Matthew 5:23, 18:15. If someone is emotional unstable or something like that it can be understandable. It’s one thing to have someone say, “so and so is hurt and you should pray about it and go talk with them,” then to have someone say, “so and so is hurt. Tell me what you did and I’ll talk with them.” It is always better to work out something with the person involved instead of involving someone else especially with family because it is hard for that 3rd to not take sides.

Triangulated

In my case I had several people talking amongst themselves about me and another person. First off, I had no idea this was happening and once I did the 3rd party person was totally in line with the other person without ever coming to me to see if what they said was true. It was very damaging and trust was very broken. It hurt so bad it felt like my gut was punched and fell on the ground for over two weeks. It was horrible. Plus the other person along with me was never, to this day, asked for their side of the story. Trust and honesty was broken all because people wanted to triangulate their issue to someone other than the person who “offended” them.

As believers we need to grow up. I say that with utmost love but also utmost earnest. We need to go to the person we have the issue with whether they like it or not and if by all means attempt to make peace. Lets find the truth is situations by doing it together with maturity and not immaturely going to other people to find solace and for someone to take our side without ever having the other person’s side to the story. If you’ve been hurt go to the person that hurt, not right away, but when you are ready. Please let the person know that. Let them know you were hurt but need time. I will say this: if you are hurt go to someone for prayer, counseling, encouragement, and healing. But don’t go to trash and attempt to reconcile through someone else. We can’t trust the grapevine. Stories can get very convoluted using triangulation. If you need another person to be with you when you talk to someone then that is fine. Go for reconciliation. God loves reconciliation. He reconciled with us. Do we not know that we will judge the angels and the world. (1 Corinthians 6:1-7) Seek Him in all things regarding offense, hurts, and hang-ups. Let us love one another and talk things out with one another directly.

If you have read this to the end, thank you. Forgive me if my grammar, spelling, and sentence structure isn’t the best. I hope you hear my heart on the matter. We, definitely including me, have triangulated in our relationships. Let us rise higher and become mature and solid food eaters! Hebrews 5:14
